About the College

Brief History

Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology (CTUST) was funded in 1966 under the name of Chung Tai Medical Junior College, and was upgraded to the Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology in 2005. The school has been focusing on medical and nursing related subjects. Adhering to the school motto: “loyalty, trust, sincerity and respect,” the educational objective of the university is to cultivate practitioners who possess both technological expertise and the dedication to humane care,

CTUST has the one of the most complete medical departments among all the schools in Taiwan's technical and vocational education system. The students trained here go on to work in medical fields across Taiwan and are acclaimed for their outstanding performance.

College of Nursing was established in August 2005, and consists of Department of Nursing (with master’s program), Department of Eldercare, and Master Degree Program in Long-Term Care. The College of Nursing recruits 4-year bachelor, 2-year bachelor, and postgraduate students into both day and evening classes. Over the years, more experienced faculty came to the college, more students passed the examinations for specialized skills, the amount of infrastructure and the teaching facilities at the college increased, and the effectiveness of teaching and learning received recognition from both families and academia. The College of Nursing has been classed as first-rate in the accreditations held in academic year 2007 and 2012.

 

Aims

1. Our technical and vocational education emphasizes both knowledge and skills to imbue students with practical know-how.

2. Stimulating student's learning interests helps relate course material to daily life, invigorate teaching methods, and translate learning effects into real life.

3. Internships are essential for putting studies to use; students and teachers in the school of nursing gain professional experience from real situations.

4. Located in Taiwan, but with an international focus to foster a broader viewpoint and a concern for all.

The educational objective of the College of Nursing “to educate professionals to provide holistic care, professional services and education to individuals at different life cycles.”

The educational objective of the master degree program “to educate advanced professionals to provide holistic care, professional services and education to individuals at different life cycles.” 

The educational objective of the bachelor degree program “to educate professionals to provide holistic care, professional services and education to individuals at different life cycles.”

Mission

The mission of College of Nursing is to educate professionals to provide holistic care, professional services and education to individuals at different life cycles.” Every faculty of the College of Nursing is to serve the people, and people are faced with death from pre-conception and at different stages of the life cycle, each with their needs for care, education and service. The whole person is focused on the four dimensions of human Physical, psychological, social and spiritual

Emblem

The circular emblem of College of Nursing symbolizes that the professionals trained at the College serve people at all stages of life; Graduates from College of Nursing are needed wherever there are people. The sun rays in the center suggest the warm, professional care provided by teachers and students from College of Nursing leaves a lasting impression. The logo CN on the emblem is the acronym for the School of Nursing It represents the core values of graduates of College of Nursing including caring, compassion, nursing, and nurture.

Meaning

1. The circular emblem illustrates the endless circle of life.

2. The rays of sun represent the rising eastern sun or the endless setting sun.

3. All people need care and nurture.
