Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology (CTUST) was funded in 1966 under the name of Chung Tai Medical Junior College, and was upgraded to the Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology in 2005. The school has been focusing on medical and nursing related subjects. Adhering to the school motto: “loyalty, trust, sincerity and respect,” the educational objective of the university is to cultivate practitioners who possess both technological expertise and the dedication to humane care.

CTUST has the one of the most complete medical departments among all the schools in Taiwan's technical and vocational education system. The students trained here go on to work in medical fields across Taiwan and are acclaimed for their outstanding performance.

College of Nursing was established in August 2005, and consists of Department of Nursing (with master’s program), Department of Eldercare, and Master Degree Program in Long-Term Care. The College of Nursing recruits 4-year bachelor, 2-year bachelor, and postgraduate students into both day and evening classes. Over the years, more experienced faculty came to the college, more students passed the examinations for specialized skills, the amount of infrastructure and the teaching facilities at the college increased, and the effectiveness of teaching and learning received recognition from both families and academia. The College of Nursing has been classed as first-rate in the accreditations held in academic year 2007 and 2012
